Mangkunegaran Revitalisation Funds to be Disbursed in April

TEMPO Interactive, Surakarta – The Surakarta Spatial Planning Office will revitalize the Mangkunegaran cultural heritage area in the near future.

Funds of Rp 20 billion will be disbursed in April 2010.

“The funds come from the central government,” said the Head of the Surakarta Spatial Planning Office Yob Nugroho yesterday.

Besides the Mangkunegaran revitalization funds of Rp 20 billion, the office will also receive Rp 2.5 billion to help revitalize the Radya Pustaka Museum.

According to Yob, the Mangkunegaran revitalization will involve a team composed of representatives of the Keraton (royalty), the heritage community and the Central Java Archeological Conservation Center (BP3).

“We have already formed the team,” he said.

Right now they already made a priority of the buildings to be repaired in the revitalization process, among them the Pura Mangkunegaran room, the library, the Pamedan Court, and the Kavalerrie-Artilerrie building.
